They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera
This is my first Adam Silvera and I really enjoyed it. This book is a really important read for everyone because it makes you think. There were a few times while I was reading that I would think about my last 24 hours. Would I spend it with loves ones? Would I do really stupid stuff because I am going to die anyway? I really do not know how I would spend my last day, but this book made me think about it.
The story is about two young men, Mateo and Rufus, who receive a call from death cast stating they will die within the next 24 hours. The narration switches from Mateo and Rufu; however, you receive different narration from a few other people and it really added to the story. One narration was from a women who works at death cast and you learned that the reason she works at that particular place was to support her daughter. This connected with me because it is so common for people to work just to support themselves/family with a job they do not enjoy. Another narration was from a woman who was going to commit suicide; however, she changed her mind because she saw Mateo and Rufus walk by and saw how happy they were. As you heard from different narrations it made me realize how connected everyone is in life and how one action can change someone.
I was never really sad when I was reading this book because I knew they were going to die. I believe the book is more about the connections we have with people. I am giving this book a 4.5 star rating.
